Eye camp on 19 August 2025
108 people registered 8 had cataract surgery because of diabetes and blood pressure.
We started eye camps in Amroha in 2008. Since that time, we have conducted over 50 eye camps, screened more than 12,000 patients, and funded over 600 cataract surgeries. Over 5000 people have had eye tests, with some given free glasses, and 5650 people have been given free medicine for minor eye problems.
We conduct these activities largely through the Venu Eye Institute (VEI). Patients for cataract operations are taken by bus to their hospital in New Delhi. Patients are brought back to Amroha in buses a day after the operation. The doctors from Venu Eye Institute visit Amroha for a follow-up appointment one month after the operation. AIS has also provided hundreds of free spectacles following free tests by Venu’s optometrists. AIS has also given free medicine to patients for other minor eye diseases.
We’re holding free eye camps on 19 August and 20 November, 2025 for vision screenings and basic eye check-ups. Experienced doctors will be present to assess eye health and offer guidance. It’s a small step that can make a big difference—for those who need it most.

Cataract Surgeries — Completely free of charge
Since we began this program in 2008, we have screened over 12,000 patients and provided 3,000 cataract surgeries—completely free of charge until March, 2025.
Patients returned to Amroha on 20 February after successful surgery in the Venue Eye Institute Hospital in New Delhi.

Indira Gandhi Eye Hospital doctors came to Amroha on 23 January to check the eyes of operated people. All of them had successful cataract operation.
The eye camp commenced on the following day at the Punjabi Dharamshala. We had 198 registered patients. Of these, 25 people were considered suitable for cataract surgery and were taken to New Delhi in the vehicles of IGEH.
Few receipts of the food bags distributed on 14 April. They contain enough food for four people for a week. We have been distributing them since May,2020. We have included mostly Muslims this time because of Ramzan. This distribution could be the last Because we want to concentrate on health and education projects.
The AIS has commenced a computer course for poor students.

We distributed blankets to very poor peoples that we have been given food parcels since May. These people are so poor that they don’t have poor bedding during the very cold spell in Amroha at present.
Dear AIS member,
It has been some time since I have used the contact list of the Amroha International Society, outside of updates of our activities, as I felt we had raised sufficient funds to run our various eye clinics, cleaning events and educational scholarships and wanted to focus on running these activities rather than raising more money – which, to be honest, is quite tiring!
Sadly, the plight of many in my home town of Amroha has become dire over the last few weeks due to the severe India-wide lockdown. Indeed, it has been brought to my attention that there are people in Amroha who are now dying of hunger and malnourishment as their sources of income have completely disappeared since the lockdown began. The scale of the need has exhausted local charities and there are no adequate government support schemes to help. This is not typical for Amroha which is situated in the middle of an agriculture producing region but highlights the scale of impact across the country.
The lockdown has been extended until the end of May and there are real concerns that more could die of starvation over this period and this is assuming that the lockdown is not extended further. Hence, I have decided to use some of our existing funds to provide emergency food rations to those in most need for the next two weeks until the lockdown eases and people can start returning to work. Each food parcel costs Rs,500 (A$10/US$6.50), and can feed a family unit for a week. Below is a photo of the first lot of parcels that we sent.
It is true that the sheer scale of the problem in India, as with almost everywhere in the world currently, makes any single effort seem inconsequential. However, I have always believed that even if I can help 1 person then that effort has been worth it. At this difficult time, there are many worthy charities doing great work locally and around the world and I am sure that many of you are helping which is wonderful. However, should you wish to donate to this particular mission to provide food parcels in Amroha then I can assure that you are saving some people from starvation. Having founded and run AIS for over two decades (and working previously at Save the Children, Oxfam and Freedom from Hunger), I make sure that every cent of your donation goes into the cause as I personally cover all administrative and other expences and we deliver all programs through with the same small circle of local groups and individuals with whom I have worked for over two decades. The Saga of SADEQUAIN
Largest Book on the Subject of Art Ever Published in Pakistan
The largest book on the subject of art ever published in Pakistan (2012) was sold out and out of print lately. The second edition of the seminal book on Sadequain will be available shortly.
The Saga of SADEQUAIN is a two-volumes-in-a-hard-case book representing five years of exhaustive research on Sadequain’s life and locating Sadequain’s work scattered around the world. The two volumes of the book, 14 x 14 inch, hard cover, over 850 pages, over 550 pieces of artwork – many done while Sadequain was residing overseas – coffee table magnum opus is the crown jewel among the more than one dozen books published by the SADEQUAIN Foundation.
The Saga of SADEQUAIN, Volume I – Biography is based upon statements of fact about Sadequain’s life and work and a window to his private self, perhaps in a manner that has not been presented before.
The Saga of SADEQUAIN, Volume II – Galerie is a celebration of the most intriguing and innovative work of a national icon, who crossed the traditional and predefined boundaries of artistic forms, norms, subjects, objects, shades, dimensions, and every other confinement that he deemed as an obstruction. In the process, he produced with abundance some of the most magnificent collections of artwork by any measure, rich in content, diverse in nature, grand in scale, and large in numbers.
NOTE: SADEQUAIN Foundation does not accept royalty for its books or draw any financial gains from any of its endeavors.O
Preparation for the Drawing competition on 18 May for grades 9-12 students on ” Amroha- My dream clean city” is progressing well. Purpose is to teach children that cleanliness is desirable b cause it reduces illness. It will be held in the I.M. Inter college.
New Publication by SADEQUAIN Foundation
The book Exquisite and Profound, can be described as amorous, romantic, seductive, sensual, lewd, obscene, steamy, and a host of other sensations.
This book by SADEQUAIN Foundation titled Drawings – Exquise et Profonde by SADEQUAIN consists of a series of titillating drawings accompanied by equally tantalizing quatrains that Sadequain did strictly for private consumption.
These private drawings were never meant to be publicized because of their sensitive subject matter. If this was not true then Sadequain would have published them himself as he published about a dozen books based on his work in his lifetime. But these drawings and quatrains were published after Sadequain passed away by an outsider without permission of Sadequain or his family.
Because these drawings were already publicized, therefore SADEQUAIN Foundation decided to publish them under its label so they will become part of the official record.
It is hoped that this book will be helpful in analyzing the imagery in Sadequain’s drawings and establishing the links to appropriate cultural context. Its empirical research and textual contents are balanced to address the sensitivities that attempt to compare and contrast arbitrary and loaded concepts.
NOTE: SADEQUAIN Foundation does not draw any financial gains from its endeavors
please contact Sadequin Foundation for further enquiries.
